IT Department Outsourcing

For several decades already, IT market has been demonstrating enviable stability and acceleration of growth, and even though the internal demand for IT services in Ukraine, already gathering pace, still cannot be viewed as extremely high, Ukrainian IT companies start drawing considerable attention from the companies located outside Ukraine, in Western Europe and the USA, through IT department outsourcing. Ukraine presents the advantages of highly skilled certified specialists together with the geographical location right in the middle between the two most important markets – Asian and American. It would be interesting to know whether the expansion of the offshore outsourcing market will be beneficial for Ukraine, whether it will ameliorate the employment situation, whether it will contribute considerbly to the country’s exports, whether the country will manage to stand the competition of other countries offering basically the same services.

Those countries already largely practise IT department outsourcing to Ukraine, by the way, being completely happy with the obtained results. One of the fast-developing practices largely seen in Ukrainian IT companies is a phenomenon called nearshoring which is outsourcing to a country which is quite close geographically, however with still considerbly different wage rates. In this sense Ukraine is a perfect choice for European customers.

One of the Ukraine’s advantages is physical georgaphic proximity to Europe – this really facilitates the cooperation with Europan customers who do not encounter any challenges related to time or mentality differences, which is quite an issue with Oriental countries which do not only lie in a time zone sometimes completely opposite to that of the customer which eliminates the possibility of convenient instant communication, but the very mentality of those people is much farther and much more different from that of Europeans or Americans. Being still a part of Europe culturally and topographically, Ukraine has people who are much closer to them in their way of thinking, culture and language. Moreover, Ukraine is open for travelers from the European Union, the USA and some other states which makes traveling here easy when necessary. However, the majority of IT department outsourcing practices can be done via Internet.

Thus, although Ukraine can’t compete with the really cheap software development services providers from India or China, it’s still successfully cooperating with many American and European customers through IT department outsourcing and gradually building a very positive record.
