Telemarketing Services Still Available

Telemarketing services can be a real pain for most people. They phone you up telling you how you can make big savings on top quality products. You politely decline their offer, but they still keep talking. It seems that the word NO is not in their dictionary. However some people will just turn them down the minute that they pick up. Why not hear them out and see if you really can make a saving. The chances are high as everyone is trying to offer value to customers.

In reaching potential customers, telemarketing services can be effective.  This is only true if the telemarketing services use targeted telemarketing lists and top notch callers.  Anything else is just a big waste of time for you and your potential customers.

Telemarketing services have taken some devastating hits in the past few years.  The advent of no call lists has made finding customers all that more difficult.  Telemarketing services are now at the mercy of those people who do not sign up for the no call list.  The concept behind the no call list is to make it easier for people to not receive telemarketing calls that they have no interest in, thereby stopping interruptions in their day.  The no call list is effective in that way, but made it harder for telemarketing services that thrive only when calls are being made and sales being closed.

Telemarketing services are those companies that hire telemarketers to sell products for other companies.  Popular products have included windows, magazine subscriptions, and gym memberships.  Companies that produce these products hire telemarketing services to bring in the customers by way of telephone.  The concept is simple and has proven to be effective in the past.  However, the number of actual purchasing customers is a lot smaller than the number of calls that are made.  The normal ratio is one paying customer for every one hundred calls made.  Which shows that telemarketing services can be effective, but only to a certain extent.

In recent years, telemarketing services have moved away from the standard of ripping pages from phone books to make their calls to purchasing targeted telemarketing lists.  Targeted telemarketing lists are created from databases of people who have expressed interest in certain products and are available to be contacted.  These lists consist of consumers who have not opted to have their name on the no call list.  This protects the telemarketing service from stiff penalties that are imposed when a person on the no call list is contacted.

Targeted telemarketing lists are expensive, some range in the thousands of dollars.  This has caused many telemarketing services to raise their prices in recent years.  This price hike has created a drastic down turn in the number of companies that use telemarketing services.  Pay ranges for employees have also dropped, making a career in telemarketing less appealing to many.

Payment made to employees is usually based on performance.  Instead of using a standard hourly wage, most telemarketing services pay commission only based on the number of sales made.  This type of pay scale is not in the best interest of most employees unless they are particularly prolific salespersons.  The sad fact remains that most telemarketing services use this pay scale.  Few people who are hired in ever see any money and most get discouraged within a week.  This has forced many telemarketing services to adopt less than ethical means of bringing in employees with promises of untold wealth and bonuses.  The amount of money that can be made while telemarketing is fairly small.  Only if you want a career working the hard sell should you give telemarketing any thought. 

There is a small chance that you can find a company that does its own telemarketing and offers an hourly wage.  However, since the advent of targeted advertising via the Internet, these companies are few and far behind.
